The local election season is getting started as a New Bedford resident announces his candidacy for a City Council seat.

Pete Wilde is running for Councilor at Large, and is proposing a number of changes for the body. Wilde says he wants to tackle one of the most controversial issues in the council head-on.

Wilde has already drafted two motions, one to recind the pay raise, and another to set three two-year term limits for councilors and two four-year terms for the mayor.

He says he'll be 100% accessible throughout his campaign, and as a councilor if he's elected.
