Why Does the Left Seem to Hate America? [OPINION]

Why doesn't the left love America?

It seems many who are left of center have a very difficult time embracing America and recognizing her exceptionalism and greatness. Why is that?

I thought that after the disgraceful Obama Administration's world apology tour, and the success of President Trump's "Make America Great Again" campaign, the left might catch on that most folks are truly proud of and love America.

But they still don't get it.

In the last week alone, Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) attacked our police as racist. Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton applauded an 11-year-old girl who refused to stand as her class recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Clinton tweeted, "It takes courage to exercise your right to protest injustice, especially when you’re 11! Keep up the good work Mariana.”

And how about Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-New York), who said, “We’re not going to make America great again. It was never that great.” What?

Don't forget former First Lady Michelle Obama confessed that she had never been proud of her country prior to 2008. And Hillary Clinton referred to the MAGA crowd as "deplorables" during the 2016 campaign.

How the heck do you expect to win elections with garbage rhetoric like that?

Hillary Clinton also supports NFL players who kneel for the national anthem. She said last fall:

”That's not against our anthem or our flag. Actually, kneeling is a reverent position. It was to demonstrate in a peaceful way against racism and injustice in our criminal system.” 

Yeah, tell that to all of those who you've offended.

Mrs. Clinton should instead encourage people to stand for American traditions and values while working to change whatever injustices they believe exist. You cannot win the hearts and minds of people when you show disdain and disrespect for them by crapping all over those traditions and values. They won't even listen to what you have to say.

Most of what Mrs. Clinton says is disingenuous and is calculated strictly for political purposes.

As for Governor Cuomo, what can you say? Cuomo reflects the liberal mantra that America is a flawed nation with bad people and flawed values. His belief that America "was never that great" is a misguided but honest assessment from his point of view.

America is a great place. The greatest nation ever to exist. It is a shame that Governor Cuomo cannot see the good in America and is blinded by its imperfections. His failure to understand that could well keep him from ever being elected president.
