I have noticed a shift in the propaganda line coming from the people who reflexively supported the socialist Green New Deal policy of the Democratic Party.

The left has shifted to saying the Green New Deal is just a set of aspirational goals, not an actual attempt at making law. They want us to think of this as a term paper from a well-intentioned college kid.

But it isn't a that at all. This is a serious policy put forward by people who should be taken at their word. The entire Massachusetts congressional delegation has signed onto this policy. All of the declared candidates for president running in the Democratic Party contest for the nomination have signed onto this policy to eliminate the use of fossil fuels in 10 years.

That's a lot of political horsepower for a term paper nobody should pay attention to.

The Congressional Budget Office, the non-partisan government agency that provides budgetary and policy analysis to the U.S. Congress, has yet to weigh in on the Green New Deal. This hasn't stopped the Democrats from endorsing the proposal, of course.

However, we do have some estimates to ponder from a former head of the Congressional Budget Office. Douglas Holtz-Eakin, Ph.D. was the director of the Congressional Budget Office from 2003 to 2005, and today he is the president of the American Action Forum.

Summary Table(2020-2029)
GoalEstimated CostEstimated Cost Per Household
Low-carbon Electricity Grid$5.4 trillion$39,000
Net Zero Emissions Transportation System$1.3 trillion to $2.7 trillion$9,000 to $20,000
Guaranteed Jobs$6.8 trillion to $44.6 trillion$49,000 to $322,000
Universal Health Care$36 trillion$260,000
Guaranteed Green Housing$1.6 trillion to $4.2 trillion$4,000 to $12,000
Food Security$1.5 billion$10

These are the facts the supporters of the Green New Deal don't want you to focus on when you decide who should be leading this country into the future.

The Green New Deal is a dangerous socialist agenda that will bankrupt America and destroy our way of life.
