Westport Schools Staffer Under Investigation for Misconduct
WESTPORT — An employee at a Westport school has been put on leave and is being investigated after the district received allegations of misconduct involving a student earlier this month.
Westport Schools Superintendent Thomas Aubin notified middle and high school families about the incident in a letter Tuesday.
He stated that the district was made aware of the allegation of staff misconduct on April 7.
Although Aubin did not disclose the nature of the allegations or the staffer's identity, he did state that Westport police and the state's Department of Children and Families were "immediately notified" and are investigating the matter.
The superintendent noted that further details on the allegations or people involved will not be forthcoming due to concerns over privacy and the integrity of the investigation.
"We take allegations such as these very seriously and acted immediately to ensure the well-being of all students," Aubin wrote.
According to the superintendent, district officials are in "direct communication" with people who may have information relating to the incident.
He added that anyone with concerns about their child should contact his office.
