A Westport man who died in a Tiverton motorcycle crash is being remembered for his generosity.

Michael Lees Jr., 27, owner of Lees Landscaping & Excavation, was killed on Route 24 North on Sunday, June 2, 2024, when his Harley Davidson and another vehicle made contact.

Amid the outpouring of memories from the community, the Westport Police Department is weighing in with a special message, highlighting Lees' contributions to the community.

The Westport Police Department is deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Michael Lees Jr. Mike generously donated his time and equipment to complete the granite steps for the Law Enforcement Memorial at our police station when he learned help was needed. A fellow resident described Mike as '...a true Westport native always willing to help his community.' We extend our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to Mike Lees' family and friends.

Michael Lees Jr. was well-regarded in town for his willingness to assist others and his dedication to local causes. His unexpected death has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him. As friends, family, and fellow residents mourn his loss, they remember him for his kindness and good-natured spirit.

Westport Police Deputy Chief Robert Rebello also expressed his sympathy, adding, “We give our deepest condolences to the family and offer our thoughts and prayers.”
