WEST BRIDGEWATER (WBSM) — The West Bridgewater Police Department is investigating after a student at the town’s middle and high school allegedly made a threatening post on social media.

Social Media Threat Reported to Police

According to West Bridgewater Police Chief Timothy Nixon, administrators at the West Bridgewater Middle-High School learned this morning of a social media post that made a non-specific threat.

The school administrators contacted the police, and an investigation was launched.

Student Quickly Identified by Investigators

Nixon said the student was quickly identified, and a thorough review determined there was no credible threat to the school community and no immediate safety risk.

Extra Police Patrols Added for Reassurance

However, additional police officers were dispatched to the school in an abundance of caution, and will continue tomorrow as the police and school departments continue to investigate.

Police: No Evidence of Danger to Students

“This matter remains under investigation, but at this time there is no evidence of any danger to students or staff,” Chief Nixon said. “We want to reassure the community that their safety is our top priority and that we acted swiftly to address the situation.”
