WBSM TV: Keating Drops Kushner Bombshell
Congressman William Keating made his weekly appearance on The Chris McCarthy Show Wednesday morning, and dropped a bombshell about Jared Kushner just moments before his office sent out a press release to the media.
Rep. Keating, ranking member of the Foreign Affairs Committee’s Terrorism Nonproliferation and Trade Subcommittee and a senior member of the Homeland Security Committee, said he has had various conversations he had with domestic and foreign diplomats regarding Jared Kushner’s role, portfolio, and concerning foreign interests.
Those conversations led Keating to a shocking discovery--that Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law and one of his top advisors, has been working directly with foreign governments that choose to circumvent the authority of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
Keating said Kushner's inexperience, as well as debts of over a $1 billion dollars to foreign business interests, are some of the reasons why foreign governments have targeted Kushner.
In the release, Keating said:
“In June of last year, when Secretary of State Tillerson was before our Committee, I specifically questioned him about Jared Kushner’s role in our nation’s foreign outreach given direct concerns I had with his involvement and amidst the Administration’s touting of his portfolio as including Middle East peace and our relationship with Mexico, among others. The answer I got was telling – he said that I had to ask Kushner. To me, that said our Secretary of State knew his work was in competition with a second campaign coming for the West Wing and head up by Kushner. This was confirmed to me when I asked him again in private and he refused to discuss Kushner’s role. I believe that is because Secretary Tillerson was aware of the delicate nature of Kushner’s position given his familial relationship as well as the disorganization of the Trump Administration as a whole."
“I have also had multiple conversations over the past fourteen months with foreign diplomats who have directly stated that foreign governments have gone to Kushner and not Secretary Tillerson first because they know he has the President’s ear and second because they know Kushner has foreign business interests. Now that Kushner’s security clearance has been downgraded, the question remains how one of the President’s top foreign policy advisors – if not the top – can continue in his position. Now, this is more a question of whether he should even be allowed to continue in his position given that US intelligence have found foreign governments believe he can be compromised.”
