FALL RIVER — The recent vandalism at a Jewish cemetery in Fall River has left many in the community feeling uneasy and frightened.

Fall River Police say 59 gravestones were vandalized with anti-semitic messages written in black marker on either March 16 or 17. The messages included phrases that exalted Adolf Hitler, made reference to President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again," and also referenced a novel in favor of white supremacy.

No arrests in the vandalism have been made.

The Anti-Defamation League of New England is hosting a vigil at the Hebrew Cemetery Tuesday night to honor the memory of the Jewish community members whose final resting place was desecrated. The vigil begins at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Hebrew Cemetery, 73 McMahon Street, Fall River.
