New Bedford school officials confirm the exsistence of a video which they say shows a teacher using demeaning laguage in a classroom to describe students at New Bedford High School.

School Department spokesman Jonathan Carvalho tells WBSM News, the teacher is no longer working in the district.

Carvalho describes the language in the video as offensive and disrespectful, and in several cases the teacher made sexual references to describe students.

Carvalho says the video was about two minutes long, and appeared to have been taken by a student using a cellphone. He said the video was sent to the administration, but when it was recorded is unclear.

Carvalho said comments made by the teacher do not reflect the dedication displayed everyday by teachers and staff in New Bedford.
