PLYMOUTH — A man who came forward to report that he had molested several older women he drove to and from a day care center for adults with Alzheimer's disease and developmental disabilities has been sentenced to five years of probation.

The Patriot Ledger reports that 58-year-old Robert McNeil, of Pembroke, was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to 10 counts of indecent assault and battery on an elderly person.

McNeil drove a van for CareWell Adult Day Wellness Center in Norwell and approached the center owners in July 2016 to report that he inappropriately touched the women dating to 2014.

McNeil's lawyer says his client was trying to do the right thing when he came forward.

The women, many in their 70s and 80s, were unable to communicate what happened to them.
