United Way of Greater New Bedford understands that the food industry has been deeply affected by the coronavirus outbreak, especially our local restaurants, cafes, and other various eateries that have already closed their doors or are preparing to close for the safety of all residents during this unprecedented time. That being said, before you throw out food, give us a call or fill out our COVID-19 food donation form linked in the button below. Our Hunger Commission is a food rescue and delivery program that works year-round to stock local food pantry shelves. United Way of Greater New Bedford is working tirelessly to bring essential resources to pantries in the area and help those struggling to put food on their table. The number one call to the office in the past week has been how residents can access food. Help us keep pantries in our community stocked with the increased demand during this uncertain time. We want to be there for you so that even in this time of struggle, you can be there for others.

If your business has food that can be donated, please fill out this form and we'll be in contact to schedule a pick-up. Thank you for Living United!

Hunger Commission Food Donation Guidelines:

  • We accept all non-perishable, sealed, unexpired food.
  • Depending on the day of the pickup and which pantries are open, we also may be able to accept fresh produce, meat, eggs, and dairy.
  • Packaged/prepared meals may be accepted as well, at the discretion of the Hunger Commission Coordinator.
  • Non-glass containers are preferred for the safety of staff and volunteers.
