Unarmed Robbery in New Bedford’s West End Under Investigation
NEW BEDFORD — Authorities are investigating an unarmed robbery that occurred in New Bedford’s west end Sunday night.
New Bedford Police report that at approximately 7:00 p.m., a man had left the Cedar Convenience store on Cedar Street and continued to walk down the roadway. Police say a short time later the man was struck from behind and was battered by more than one person.
The victim told police that he could not identify any of the suspects involved or get an accurate number as to how many total suspects were involved because he was trying to protect himself from the battery. An attempt by the suspects to grab some jewelry came without success.
The victim received minor injuries and was treated by medics. No further information is being released at this time.
