Two men from Providence are in custody after Rehoboth police caught them on the scene of a home break-in.

According to Wicked Local Dighton, Rehoboth police said they received a call from a Pine Street resident regarding a "suspicious vehicle that had pulled into her driveway and a suspicious male who was seen walking on her property” at around 10:20am.

"Within a few moments, the vehicle left her driveway and then entered a secluded driveway of a neighboring home.” The caller described the vehicle as a grey SUV with plates from Rhode Island.

Two Rehoboth officers then arrived on-scene and checked the area.

They reported finding the "suspicious vehicle" parked and unattended in a nearby driveway.

Then, they approached the Pine Street home at the end of the driveway and found a rear window that was forced open.

Police also realized that there was at least one suspect that was still inside the residence.

Cruisers from Rehoboth and Seekonk arrived on scene, and shortly after, "two males attempted to run from the residence and they were quickly apprehended following a brief struggle with the police officers on scene.”

The men removed a flat-screen TV from a wall and were gathering other electronic devices.

Police arrested 23 year-old Jayco Smith, and 26 year-old Alexis Torres, both of 24 West Clifford Street in Providence, Rhode Island.

Both men have been charged with breaking and entering daytime for a felony, two counts of vandalism of property, stealing from a building, possession of burglarious tools, and resisting arrest.

Torres is also being charged as a fugitive from justice out of New York due to an outstanding warrant.

Rehoboth police are now investigating three similar house break-ins in town, which occurred on January 5 and January 7.
