Two men have been arrested in the city's South End. New Bedford Police say officers responded to the zero-block of Salisbury Street Sunday afternoon to a report of a man with a gun.

Officers soon found two men near a black Audi and found a Glock .40 caliber handgun, fully loaded with fifteen rounds of ammunition. Both men denied ownership of the weapon.

Police arrested 22-year-old Derek Pires of New Bedford and 23-year-old Arcadio Navarro of Fall River. They both face charges of unlawful possession of a firearm without a license, unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawful possession of a large capacity shotgun or rifle feeding device.
