Two Men Arrested, Large Capacity Handgun Seized in New Bedford’s South End
Two men have been arrested in the city's South End. New Bedford Police say officers responded to the zero-block of Salisbury Street Sunday afternoon to a report of a man with a gun.
Officers soon found two men near a black Audi and found a Glock .40 caliber handgun, fully loaded with fifteen rounds of ammunition. Both men denied ownership of the weapon.
Police arrested 22-year-old Derek Pires of New Bedford and 23-year-old Arcadio Navarro of Fall River. They both face charges of unlawful possession of a firearm without a license, unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawful possession of a large capacity shotgun or rifle feeding device.
