Two cousins from New Bedford are facing prison terms after being found guilty of selling heroin.

Paul and Travis Mendes were arrested in July, 2015, following an undercover police operation. The pair were convicted Thursday in Fall River Superior Court.

Judge Gregg Pasquale sentenced 34-year old Travis Mendes to four to six years in state prison, plus two years probation after his release. Fifty-year old Paul Mendes was sentenced to 1-1/2 to three years in prison.

District Attorney Thomas Quinn says the case is an example of street level drug dealers who are contributing to the very serious opioid problem that's affecting Bristol County and our nation. Quinn says both men are repeat offenders.
