Two men have been charged with breaking into a vacant house in New Bedford.

Police were called to 30 Adams Street early Monday by neighbors who said two men were trying to break into the building.

When police arrived, officers spotted two men walking away from the address. Both were stopped and later placed under arrest.

Twenty-five year old Luis Riveira-Rodriguez and 33 year old Edgardo Badillo, both of New Bedford were charged with breaking and entering, possession of burglary tools and larceny.

Police say Rodriguez was carrying a backpack containing a crowbar and flashlight. Police found a lockbox had been torn from the building, and that plywood had been removed from the doorway.
