Rumor has it that Twitter is finally considering breaking down the 140-character rule and reaching far beyond the simple limit. With this new feature, you'll soon be able to tweet up to 10,000 characters in a single post. There is no confirmation about the change, but this has existed in the network's Direct Messaging product since August of 2015.

I'd be happy to see the 140-character limit go. For someone who relies on Twitter for work, it would be nice to get through a post without the character count hanging over me like a guillotine. Although long rants would be inevitable with this change, I'd also be glad that multiple posts would be less frequent.
