RAYNHAM — A fatal crash on 495 in Raynham yesterday morning involved five different vehicles, with one motorist killed and another hospitalized with serious injuries.

The identity of the person killed in the crash has not yet been released.

State police posted about the crash on Twitter just after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

They said troopers and other emergency crews were working at the scene at 495 northbound in Rayhnam that involved a crash with life-threatening injuries and multiple vehicles including a tractor trailer unit.

Traffic was diverted to Route 24 temporarily, with only one lane open and the ramp from Route 24 south to 495 north closed.

Just before 11 a.m. state police tweeted that one motorist had died from injuries sustained in the crash, with a second victim taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"The crash was complex," the tweet read. "Investigators are still reconstructing [the] sequence of events."

State police went on to note that one of the five vehicles involved in the crash was pulling a trailer.

 

All on-scene units had been cleared and all lanes reopened to traffic by 12:43 p.m.

No further details have been disclosed.
