UMass Dartmouth Professor Brian Glyn Williams joins Jim Phillips on this weekend's edition of Townsquare Sunday.

Williams is an expert on Afghanistan and the Islamic world. He served as a "cultural adviser" for the movie "12 Strong," a film based on the true story of U.S. Special Forces deployed to Afghanistan following the 9-11 attacks. Williams lived with the Afghan Warlord, General Dostum, portrayed in the film and wrote a book about that experience. Williams also wrote "Afghanistan Declassified," which explains the history and culture of that war-torn nation, and is required reading for soldiers being deployed to Afghanistan.

Townsquare Sunday with Jim Phillips can be heard each Sunday at 6 a.m. on WBSM 1420 and WBSM.com. Townsquare Sunday is a weekly public affairs program highlighting non-profits and community organizations in the Greater New Bedford area.
