The YMCA to Host ‘First Annual Run/Walk for the Y’ in August
YMCA SOUTHCOAST is hosting the First Annual Run/Walk for the Y in August. The event will be held virtually this year due to COVID-19, but that means that you create your own route. Run or walk the distance anywhere you’d like, from your neighborhood, the beach, the park, or safe at home on the treadmill.
The Y is asking participants to run or walk from Friday, August 14 to Sunday, August 16. “All proceeds from the race will benefit the Southcoast YMCA's annual campaign which provides financial assistance for memberships and programs to local children and families in need. Your support helps guarantee that everyone - regardless of their circumstances or ability to pay - can belong to the Y.”
The Y welcomes runners and walkers of all ages and abilities to participate in the Family “Fun Run 3K” or the more competitive 5K. “Enjoy a healthy activity with your family while supporting a great cause. Challenge your friends or family to join your team or create their own - a little healthy competition is always good!”
The YMCA does not have a set fundraising minimum but asks individuals to raise $50 and teams to raise $250. There will be prizes for the top fundraisers.
"With your support and participation in the RUN/WALK FOR THE Y, you work alongside the YMCA Southcoast to help build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities."
