The excitement of the World Cup continues to grow in New England. One local organization is currently fundraising to build two mini pitch futsal courts in Rhode Island.

World Cup Momentum Reaches Rhode Island

To make it happen, Project GOAL RI has partnered with the US Soccer Foundation and former Brown University and New England Revolution player Jeff Larentowicz.

"On court branding, sideline signage, and commemorative bricks are available as part of the fundraising effort," Project GOAL RI said.

Where the New Futsal Courts Will Be Built

The two courts, located at Glove Park in Woonsocket and Jenks Middle School in Pawtucket, are scheduled to be installed in Summer 2026.

The hope is to "positively impact Rhode Island communities plus capture the excitement of this summer’s World Cup."

What Is Project GOAL RI?

Project GOAL (Greater Opportunity for Athletes to Learn) is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 2004.

The after-school program "empowers young people to dream big, achieve academically, and grow as confident, community-minded individuals."

Project GOAL RI Executive Director Darius Shirzadi said the organization is excited for the community and its kids, calling it a once-in-a-generation opportunity.

The new courts will "help revitalize areas in the community."
