Thanks to the wonderful members of our community, we were able to collect 5,886 pounds of food for local families in need at the Buttonwood Park Warming House on Saturday, November 14. This has been our greatest collection to date and we are so grateful for everyone who played a part in this.

It was unseasonably warm as we set things up at 9 am and we were lucky that the weather just got nicer as the morning went on. We were extremely fortunate to have the perfect day to host this amazing event.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we couldn’t have volunteers from the public participate this year. Instead, station staff and members from United Way of Greater New Bedford worked together to collect the donated items from cars and sort through all of it so hundreds of boxes could be packaged, weighed, loaded onto the truck, and transported to the storage unit for the following week’s event.

Thank you to all who helped make this food drive a success, including our wonderful sponsors. Hunger Heroes Food Drop would not have been possible if it weren’t for the help of our community sponsors, including Care Free Homes and Cottage Street Motors. All collected items will benefit United Way of Greater New Bedford and their Hunger Heroes Project.
