HBO’s ‘The Gilded Age’ Season 2 Now Filming in Newport
Corsets, parasols and top hats are likely to be spotted around Newport this May as film crews return to the historic city to shoot scenes for season two of HBO's hit series "The Gilded Age."
All the show's stars are expected to be around town for most of the month and we know some of the places where you can find them.
Seems a lot more than we think is filmed inside the mansions of Newport for this period drama that viewers are raving about. The Preservation Society of Newport let us all in on the fact that many of the show's New York sets are actually from right down the road in Rhode Island.
From the ballroom in the Russells' impressive home to the small apartment Oscar van Rhijn shares with his "man friend," many of the New York scenes are actually filmed in Newport.
Though I was a little surprised when I first learned this news, it does make a lot of sense. Why build elaborate sets of opulent homes when the real-life characters this show portrays have already done it for you?
This show does have some amazing sets and if you haven't taken a Newport Mansion tour recently, then you may have missed some of the beautiful homes pieced together to make the New-Money mansions we've come to know on "The Gilded Age."
Almost all of these homes are expected to be used again for season two, so here's where you should expect to find film crews in Newport this May.
