TAUNTON (WBSM) — Taunton Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday evening in which a man suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police Chief Edward Walsh said that the department was contacted at about 6:45 p.m. on September 4 by Morton Hospital, regarding a patient who had arrived with a gunshot wound.

Victim Airlifted to Trauma Center

Officers responded to the hospital and identified the victim as a 24-year-old man with life-threatening injuries. He was stabilized at Morton Hospital before he was taken to a local trauma center via helicopter.

His identity has not been released.

Granite Street Identified as Shooting Scene

According to Walsh, the initial investigation determined the shooting took place at 11 Granite Street in Taunton. It is believed to have been an isolated incident and not a random act of violence, he said.
