Taunton Fire Department Goes Beyond the Call of Duty
The Taunton Fire Department went beyond the call of duty this week.
On Monday, December 3, Sofia Pianco returned home from school and found her house engulfed in smoke and flames. Twelve-year-old Sofia lost most of her clothing and belongings. The Taunton Fire Department led by Lt. Greg Galligan, took up a collection among Department members shortly after the event. Many of the firefighters who donated had responded to the Prospect Street fire. On Friday, December 7 Lt. Galligan, as well as Captain Matt Arruda and members of the Engine 1 crew went to Parker Middle School to present Sofia with a new pair of shoes and approximately $1,100 in gift cards to help her replace what was lost.
God bless the crew that helped this young girl in her time of need.
