Finnley Silva is a soon-to-be four-year-old at Boston Children’s Hospital. This brave little boy currently waiting for a new heart.

“Finnley was born with a heart defect, called hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome,” explained his mom, Emily Silva. “He had three surgeries to correct his defect, but unfortunately, the third surgery didn’t work as planned. He was diagnosed as being in heart failure and had a Ventricular Assistance Device, or VAD, placed in October. He is currently an inpatient at Boston Children’s awaiting a heart transplant. He will be staying inpatient until he receives a heart.”

Finnley has been at the hospital since mid-October and the family has no idea when a heart will become available. They anticipate spending a year there and will travel to Boston Children’s several times per week after he receives the miracle heart.

This little fighter has two older sisters who he loves more than anything. “He is currently obsessed with Transformers, especially Bumblebee, and the color yellow. He has a smile that will bring a smile to anyone’s face.”

Finnley is turning four years old on Friday, January 29. It has come to our attention that he also loves getting mail. So, we’re trying to get the word out for his birthday weekend to be something truly special. In an attempt to flood his room with love, we’re asking everyone to send Finnley a birthday card as soon as possible.
