Antonio Costa, an associate and co-conspirator of recently convicted former Fall River mayor Jasiel Correia, was sentenced to house arrest today in federal court in Boston for extorting marijuana vendors and lying to federal agents.

The Fall River Herald News reports that Mayor Correia denied that he planned to resign Wednesday, telling reporters “it’s a rumor,” at a Fall River restaurant.

Candidate Paul Coogan was the clear favorite in the primary with 8,273 votes for 62.3-percent of the unofficial final tally. Correia took home 2,777 votes.
