A suspect is in custody in Fairhaven after an incident in which the Phoenix Rail Trail bike path was temporarily closed on Friday afternoon, following unconfirmed reports that a man with a gun was threatening to harm himself.

A firearm-related incident at Fairhaven's Walmart took place late Tuesday night, but it is currently unclear exactly what happened.

Fairhaven police are continuing the search for a person of interest in a sailboat theft Monday, after initially conducting a water search for the man thought to have taken the vessel from Community Boating Center in New Bedford.

The suspect was captured in the backyard of a Pleasant Street residence in Acushnet.
