The last thing Trooper Luke Bonin thought was that a camera would catch him doing this on Davol Street in Fall River, but that's exactly what happened.

Trooper Bonin had no idea someone was taking a picture of him while he was sitting, sharing a lunch and a conversation with a panhandler on Davol Street in Fall River. Trooper Bonin was dressed in a suit, on his way back from court, when he spotted a woman who looked down on her luck. According to the Mass State Police, he drove straight past her and directly to a restaurant to by the two of them some lunch. When she saw his cruiser pull up, she started to gather her things to leave. "I'm not here to kick you out," he said...holding out both meals and asking her to choose one. The trooper reluctantly shared his story with the Mass State Police after the photo went viral.

Yes, Trooper Bonin, we know you do not want or expect publicity. We know you didn’t want to be noticed, but you were, and the job is proud of you. We commend you for your selfless act, and for “doing the right thing” for someone less fortunate than most people.

We have extraordinary troopers on the Massachusetts State Police who conduct themselves honorably, and perform selfless acts, every day. Most times, it goes unnoticed. But not this day.  --Massachusetts State Police Facebook
