When Parker School was designated a Level 5 school, it may have caused some concern for parents in that district. A mid-year update on the school's turnaround plan shows those concerns were quickly addressed.

Russell Johnston, Senior Associate Commissioner of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, presented the report at Monday's School Committee meeting.

He says one big achievement of the turnaround is parent-teacher involvement.

Johnston went on to say skeptical parents saw early on that their students were getting the help and attention they need to succeed.

He also pointed out students are happier with more opportunities to interact with teachers and their peers during the school day.
