A New Bedford restaurant is doing its part to help our area kids get back to school with everything they need to succeed.

It's expensive to do just about anything these days, and I think everyone is looking for ways to save money. One thing no parent should have to skimp on is school supplies.

How One New Bedford Restaurant Is Helping

Table 8 Restaurant in New Bedford has been on Acushnet Ave in the North End for over a decade now and is open for breakfast and lunch. For some of the locals, it's a routine spot to step in to grab a quick breakfast and a coffee and head out the door.

During the morning hours, you can bet that available tables are hot real estate, so to see a table dedicated to handing out school supplies is truly special.

We called to see if the table would be replenished and we got a very quick, "Yes!"

The table will continue to be stocked with free school supplies for the month of August and will be available every day the restaurant is open, which is every day but Mondays.

Take Some School Supplies or Drop Some Off

If you and your child need a little help in the school supplies department, stop by, and if you happen to have a few extra dollars and pick up a few items to help keep the table stocked up, I'm sure your neighbors would appreciate it.

While we know that most teaching has gone to using digital means, the need for items like notebooks, pens and pencils is still real in most classrooms.

Great job by the crew at Table 8.
