Mass. State Police, working with the FBI, arrested a repeat firearm offender following a vehicle stop Friday afternoon in Fall River.

Thirty-three year old Christian Teixeira of Mattapan was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by Police at Dwelly and Tuttle Streets.

Officers also found a black pouch in the car where Teixeira was sitting that contained a loaded semi-automatic handgun with defaced serial numbers.

Also recovered was a bag of additional ammunition, gloves, and a ski mask.

Teixeira was booked at State Police headquarters in Dartmouth and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, fourth offense, being an armed career criminal, and other gun-related charges.

The driver of the car was not charged.

Teixeira is currently on probation out of Suffolk County on a gun charge and has three prior convictions for illegal firearm possession.
