State Kicks In Funding For Hazelwood Park Improvements
The Baker Administration is investing nearly $7 million to improve parks and recreation programs around the Commonwealth.
Two communities in line for funding are New Bedford and Fall River.
Hazelwood Park, New Bedford
New Bedford will receive $364,000 for improvements to Hazelwood Park in the South End.
The work will include creating new handicapped accessible entrances to the park on the east and west sides, building a small amphitheatre on the Great Lawn, redesigning parking lots and rehabbing the bowling green area.
Fall River will receive $257,000 to put new fences around ball fields in three parks.
A total of 23 communities will receive funding. Governor Baker says "the funding will make exsisting parks safer, cleaner and more accessible."
