Fall River Welcomes the World of ‘Star Wars’ This Spring
Get your light sabers ready. The Star Wars Universe is coming to Fall River, thanks to two local artists who aim to make art and inclusivity a staple in their beloved city.
The Globe Artists Community
Noel Proulx and Joe Souza joined forces just over a year ago to form the Globe Artists Community.
Proulx spent a large portion of his life working as an engineer but wanted to give more time to his creative side, so he began his journey into web design and art. He set up shop at the flea market on Globe Street, where he met Joe Souza, a full-blown professional artist.
“We hit it off and I convinced him to open a booth next to me, and soon enough, we started buying up the spots and reserving them for artists,” said Proulx.
Proulx and Souza both have a passion for art and wanted to create a safe and welcoming space for artists to thrive.
“We do a lot of mentoring for people that want to do something with their art,” said Proulx. “We help them with the production side and the business side.
But most importantly, Globe Artists Community was about making the community remember that there is more to Fall River than meets the eye.
Troy City StarCon
These two gentlemen not only have a passion for art, they also have a passion for events. On May 7 and 8, Globe Artists Community will host their first “StarCon” The galaxy that was once far, far away will land at the Globe Street Flea Market for a unique two-day experience, and it’s totally free.
It’s all about giving artists a chance to express themselves without worrying about a buy-in fee and offering up an event that will bring like-minded people together in hopes of creating lifelong friendships or just having a good time.
“We want to bring events to people, and give the community something to look forward to,” said Proulx.
It doesn’t get much bigger than the Star Wars community, and the founder of the Globe Artists Community looks forward to hosting many other events in the future.
