New Bedford Police have arrested a suspect in a fatal South End stabbing.

According to police, the stabbing happened Thursday night on West Rodney French Boulevard.  The victim, 22-year old Alex Silva staggered into the South End Police Station suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen.  He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital then transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.  He died early Saturday.

The District Attorney's office says a suspect in the stabbing was arrested Friday night at his home. Twenty-five year old Marco Shane Ramos of Social Street was charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, causing serious bodily injury, and armed robbery.

Ramos will appear in New Bedford District Court on Monday
