Massachusetts-Born Actor’s Name Was the Last Thing Walt Disney Said
One of the greatest mysteries of all time – well, at least in the entertainment world – is why Walt Disney's last words were what they were.
Walter Elias Disney, who gave the world Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Disneyland, "It's A Small World" and so much more, was born in Chicago on December 5, 1901.
Walt Disney was a fixture on television for many years. He produced award-winning films, documentaries, animated features and the world's first themed amusement park.
Among the many child stars Walt Disney brought to the world's attention were Annette Funicello, Tim Considine, Tommy Kirk and Kurt Russell.
In 1966, Russell, who would become close friends with Disney, signed a 10-year contract with Walt Disney Productions and became a top Disney film star in the 1970s.
He starred in such Disney classics as The Barefoot Executive, The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes and The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit.
Russell played baseball for the minor league affiliates of the California Angels. He appeared in many television and motion picture roles as an adult, including Disney and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.
Russell was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on March 17, 1951, but grew up in California. He married actress Goldie Hawn in 1983 and the couple had two sons, Wyatt and Boston.
Walt Disney died from cancer in 1966. On his deathbed, Walt reportedly scribbled several things on a pad. His last words were "Kurt Russell."
No one, including Russell, knows why.
After confirming a Disney official informed him around 1968 of Walt Disney's mysterious message, Russell told a 2017 interview with HuffPost, "Oh gee. I don't know what it's connected to."
