Goodbye Long Lines? Massachusetts RMV Launches New myRMV Appointment System
Technology is supposed to make our busy lives easier, right? Look at all of the things you can do online these days to save you trips to the bank, the market, the ticket counter, the airport terminal, and more. That's a good thing, because we all know how hectic our days can be.
Who wants to spend valuable time waiting in line?
Now, the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles, once one of the most dreaded places to visit because of long lines and notoriously slow service, is working to make your experience more pleasant.
State House News Service reported, "The Massachusetts RMV announced that customers can now use the myRMV portal to reserve appointments for registration and title transactions."

How the New myRMV Appointment System Works
The RMV confirmed this. "You can book an appointment ahead of time via the myRMV portal or use walk-in service, though scheduled appointments are prioritized," according to its website.

Think of it as having a Lightning Lane pass at Walt Disney World or a Fast Lane pass at Six Flags New England but at the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles.
The RMV cautions you do need to take some steps in advance.
What You Need Before Booking Your RMV Visit
"To complete a vehicle registration and title transaction in Massachusetts, you must first get an active auto insurance policy. Your insurance agency will stamp and sign a Registration and Title Application (RTA)," the RMV said. "Next, bring the RTA, proof of ownership (like the previous title or bill of sale), and payment for fees and sales tax to an RMV Service Center."
With a pre-scheduled appointment, however, you can avoid a long line at the RMV.
You might find yourself wanting to wear your Mickey or Minnie Mouse ears to your next registration appointment.
