Apparently Mike Hazen, who recently left the Boston Red Sox to become the general manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks, has taken Boston bench coach Torey Lovullo with him.

According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7,  the former Boston GM has coaxed Lovullo away from his role as the bench coach in Beantown and will officially name him the newest manager of the Diamondbacks soon.

Lovullo, who had been a member of Boston skipper John Farrell's staff dating back to his time as manager of the Toronto Blue Jays, did take over as interim manager during Farrell's leave due to a cancer diagnosis towards the end of the 2015 season.

In his 48-game managerial stint, the 51-year-old went 28-20 and solidified himself as one of the top candidates around the league last offseason. He did, however, stay on the Boston staff last season, instead of continuing the process of looking outside the team for managerial opportunities.

It appears that having familiar faces already in place gave Lovullo enough of a sense of security to venture into his first true stint as a manager.

Along with Hazen and Lovullo, Amiel Sawdaye, who had headed up Boston's scouting department, has also joined the Diamondbacks' front office as assistant GM.
