The Southcoast Rail Project continues to be on the minds of Greater New Bedford lawmakers, including Rep. Antonio Cabral of New Bedford.

Cabral's Committee on Bonding and Capital Expenditures is currently considered a provision to fully fund the extension of commuter rail service from Boston to New Bedford and Fall River.

Cabral expects the committee to report out the bill, and its $2.2 billion provision for Southcoast Rail, by the second or third week of next month.  And Cabral expects Gov. Patrick to sign the measure, when it reaches his desk.

Cabral admits, the goal among the legislative delegation is to get as much done as possible on the rail project, so when the next governor arrives at the Statehouse in January, 2015, there will no way of turning back.
