When you gotta go, you gotta go. So suppose I've got to go halfway to Boston on the South Coast Rail? Will there be restrooms on board? There are no restrooms on the MBTA subways that zip about under the streets of Beantown.

Well, rest assured. I checked it out and there are restrooms on the bi-level rail cars chugging between New Bedford and Boston daily.

When you reach a certain age you worry about such things.

One thing that will not be present at the stations is ticket kiosks. Dartmouth Week says, "Riders will be able to purchase tickets on either the MTA mTicket app or while on the train."

Charlie Cards used to ride MBTA buses and subways cannot be used on commuter rail.

WBSM reported that passenger service will begin on March 24, 2025.

The MBTA says, "The fare structure for all South Coast Rail stations will be priced in Zone 8, meaning passengers will pay a full fare of $12.25 and a reduced fare of $6."

There will be 25 trips on the Fall River line and 17 on the New Bedford line, including late-night service, with the last train leaving Boston just before midnight.

There is a fee to park at the New Bedford train stations. The fee is $4 on weekdays and $2 on weekends and holidays.

Police, fire, kids under 11 and people who are legally blind can ride South Coast Rail free of charge.
