After being cut by his longtime team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, 39-year-old linebacker James Harrison was picked up by the New England Patriots for the remainder of the 2017 season.

Even before putting together a solid end of the season with the Pats, the aging pass rusher had expressed a desire to continue his career into 2018 and beyond. Per the Boston Sports Journal, sources says there's a "reasonable chance" Harrison's career could continue in New England.

The veteran linebacker played well for the Pats down the stretch and even worked his way into a 3-down role by the Super Bowl.

With New England's lack of pass rush along the front seven, retaining a guy like Harrison would help stabilize a weak part of their defense that likely won't get filled by flashy free agent signings.
