HBO is confirming the death of "Sopranos" star James Gandolfini.

The cable network says Gandolfini was on vacation in Italy and died of a possible heart attack. He was 51.

Gandolfini won three Emmys for playing troubled mob boss Tony Soprano on HBO's hit drama "The Sopranos."

He recently appeared in the movies "Zero Dark Thirty" and "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone." His other credits include the films "True Romance," "Get Shorty" and "Where The Wild Things Are."

Gandolfini is survived by his wife Deborah Lin and a son. (MetroSource News)
