Reports of a shark sighting in Padanaram Harbor this morning have not been confirmed, but the town harbormaster is keeping a close eye on the situation.

Dartmouth Harbormaster Steve Melo tells WBSM News he received a phone call from an official at the New Bedford Yacht Club whose instrucor had seen a dorsal fin at the entrance to Padanaram Harbor.

Nearby facilities and beachgoers have been notified of the possible shark sighting, and Melo says two of his boats are patrolling the harbor trying to locate the source of the fin. He says while it may be a shark, the fin could also belong to a porpoise, a seal, or even a whale shark.
