Mazda is recalling thousands of cars because of spiders that spin webs in the gas line. It's the second time this has happened. The Japanese carmaker is recalling 42-thousand Mazda 6 sedans because the common yellow sac spider can weave a web in a fuel tank hose and block airflow.

That can cause the fuel tank to crack, leading to fire risks. The recall involves the 2010 through 2012 model years. Mazda will install a spring to keep the spiders from getting in, and fix the car's computer software to prevent problems in the fuel tank.

The spiders are attracted to the hydrocarbons in gasoline. Three years ago, Mazda recalled 52-thousand cars for the same reason.
