The Jesse Heikkila Foundation is hosting the second annual Bat Run, a 5K run and walk on Sunday, Sept. 18, at Middleborough High School.

The Bat Run will benefit childhood cancer research in memory of Jesse who died at age 7 after battling stage IV Neuroblastoma cancer.

According to South Coast Today.com, race day shirts will be provided at no charge to the first 300 registrants. Awards will also be given out to the top three male and female race finishers in each of the age divisions.

Post-race festivities will include Super Hero costume contests for adults and children, music provided by Big Daddy Entertainment, Ella's Lemonade Shop, face painting, a bounce house, dunk tank, and a visit by Santa Claus.

Race day registration will be Sunday, Sept. 18, 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Middleborough High School, 71 E. Grove St. Middleboro.
