A group of New Bedford teachers recently went on the Morning Show of WBSM's sister station Fun 107 with altered voices claiming that assaults by students against teachers occur on a regular basis with teachers being punched and pushed.

However, on Monday School Department spokesman Jonathan Carvalho told the Fun 107 Morning Show he has not found any evidence of their claims.

Carvalho also disputed claims made by the teachers that there were numerous fights and other activity in a closed off section of New Bedford High School, saying that no section of the high school had been closed off.

He also expressed disappointment that they went to the media instead of using the proper channels such as their principals, union representatives or faculty advisory committee to report their issues.
