SALEM (WBSM) — America’s favorite Halloween city is about to become a zombie town, as officials in Salem, Massachusetts are warning the public about an upcoming invasion of the undead.

“PLEASE BE AWARE that zombies are expected to be walking the streets of Salem on October 5, beginning at approximately 11 a.m. at Salem Common,” the City of Salem posted to its official Facebook page.

Of course, there’s no need to worry that the Witch City is about to become the unofficial home of the Walking Dead – it’s actually just the Salem Zombie Walk, described as a “free, family-friendly zombie-themed walk through Salem at the beginning of the Halloween season.”

From 11 a.m. until about 1 p.m., zombies will take over the streets in Salem’s “witchy” district, and anyone who wants to take part is welcome, with full details on the Haunted Happenings website.

The zombie herd will begin at the Salem Common, and then lurch down Brown Street before taking a left on New Liberty Street.

They are then expected to shamble right onto Essex Street, left onto Central Street, right onto Front Street, left onto Artists Row, followed by a left turn onto New Derby Street.

After that, they’ll take a right onto Wharf Street, and they will then lurch straight up Hebert Street, left onto Essex Street, right onto Hawthorne Boulevard, and they will come to an end at the Common.
