Route 140 Fatal Accident

An unidentified 23 year old Acushnet man is dead and a Fairhaven woman is injured in a 2 car crash early this morning on Rt. 140 northbound between exits 4 and 5. According to the Bristol County D A's office, a jeep being driven by 26 year old Caitlin Chouinard of Fairhaven rolled over in the travel lane and was struck by another Jeep being operated by the Acushnet man. Both vehicles burst into flames and the Acushnet man was pronounced dead at the scene. Ms. Chouinard was taken to the hospital and is being charged with operating under the influence and motor vehicle homicide. She will be arrainged at a later date.
