ROCHESTER (WBSM) — Rochester Police arrested a town resident on Thursday night who was wanted for multiple counts of rape as well as kidnapping and other charges.

According to police, Nicholas Carnazza was arrested on March 6 on three counts of aggravated rape and one count each of kidnapping, indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or over, and intimidation of a witness.

Police did not give any details as to the nature of the charges. Instead, Police Chief Michael A. Assad, Jr. commended the work of his officers.

“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our dedicated officers whose hard work and perseverance led to this important apprehension,” he said. “Their commitment to providing justice and support for the victim is commendable and reflects the values of our department.”

Police said they also received assistance in the investigation from the Mattapoisett Police Department, the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department, the Massachusetts State Police Fugitive Unit, and Massachusetts Environmental Police.

“This collaboration exemplifies the strength of inter-agency partnerships and our collective dedication to community safety,” police said in a release posted to Facebook.
