Road Projects Begin In South Central Neighborhood

A pair of road reconstruction projects are underway in New Bedford's South Central neighborhood. 

The city's Department of Public Infrastructure is overseeing the reconstruction of Purchase Street, between Wing and Russell Streets, and Pleasant Street, between Wing and County. 

Commissioner Ron Labelle says both sections of roadway need some serious work......

The work will be paid for with Chapter 90 funding from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. 

Labelle ways he wanted to rebuild all of Purchase Street, but couldn't because of limited Chapter 90 funds.
